§ 2-85. Refusal to sign and accept a citation.

  • Any person who willfully refuses to sign and accept a citation issued by a code enforcement officer or law enforcement officer shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree pursuant to F.S. § 162.21(6). If the person cited so refuses to sign the citation, the code enforcement officer or law enforcement officer shall write the words "refused" or "refused to sign" in the space provided for the person's signature and shall then leave a copy of the citation with the person cited, if possible. Following such refusal to sign, the code enforcement officer or law enforcement officer shall contact the City of Bradenton Beach Police Department to report such refusal as a violation of F.S. § 162.21(6). Any person who willfully refuses to sign and accept a citation or notice to appear issued by a code enforcement officer, designated under chapter 2, division 3, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree punishable as provided in F.S. § 775.082 or 775.083.
